JELLY BONE is a song about fear, like the great white American fear of anything that isn’t white, christian, unwoke, and straight. About some men’s fear that they may be “turned”. About seeing threats where they don’t exist. Dressed up in an appropriate vampire story.
The song was written quite a while back, and has been through some changes down the years. Lawrie and me spent quite a bit time searching for just the right electric piano sound, trying to get close to Brian Eno’s early piano sound with Roxy Music, that you can hear on stuff like Editions of You.
