Mike Cullen

Lead vocal, backing vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, keys.

At the age of 12, I wandered into a Soho clothes store. They were playing “Time” from Bowie’s Aladdin Sane. From that moment on, I’ve been determined to emulate the late great DB by becoming a rock star. About fifty years later, after playing and singing for many different bands, from my first band Ziggy at the age of 14 to my last covers band, The Spangles, I’m still trying but I aint stopping. I got distracted along the way by becoming a writer for stage and screen, you can check out my writing accomplishments with the links below.
I wrote all the songs for the album over a number of years, and I’m totally humbled by all the great players who’ve come along to support me over that time in realising my dream of making and releasing an album.

The album itself was recorded in mainly two places – drums and bass were recorded by the superb Andrew Taylor at Dropkick’s studio in Edinburgh. Almost everything else was recorded in my wee garden office/shed, which has been dubbed The Love Shack. I had to spend several years learning how to use Protools in order to become a bona fide mixing engineer. And now, I have to learn to play all the songs again so that we can perform them live later in the year. But it’s happening, it’s actually happening…

Here are a couple of links to my writing career so far.
